Counting 1, 2, 3

As most parents ( I assume) do we practice counting with Layla often. When we read books, walk steps, see airplanes, train cars, etc. At school, she is learning so much and I hear her practicing her ABCs and 123s with her teachers when I come to pick her up.

Yesterday, our little pumpkin stayed home from school due to a bad cold. Jason stayed home in the morning and I came home at noon so he could go to work (it's so nice when this can work out).

Layla and I ventured out to the car dealership for a service call and found many wonders there. They have a fish tank, a kids' play room with many baby dolls and buses, trucks, etc..

Upon our return home Layla was walking up the steps to our condo. She paused halfway and wanted to be picked up (oh-so-common when Mom has an armload of stuff) and I said, "Keep going you only have six steps left." She turned and I started counting, "One.." and then she says, "Two (step), Three (step), Five (step), (step)."

She missed four, but clearly I don't care; I am so proud of her! We counted on the way out to school today, "one, two three, five" again. The latter with a high five in the air!

Supergirl!

I wanted to look away from this mess, but I grabbed the camera instead. It turns out that Layla has determined that nearly everything can be dipped in yogurt. Blueberries especially. She dumped them all over the table after I took her placement and turned my back for a moment to put it in the sink.

Girls' Day Out

While Daddy was away the ladies of the house geared up for a day out. We started off on a good note: Layla sleeping in until almost 7:30. That's pretty much unheard of around here.

The girls were mostly impressed with the turtles and fish.
Carrie was creeped out by the slithering slimy stuff and I can't say I blame her, there is an abundance of it at this place. And I noticed they keep the mice right next to the snake cages. Coincidence? I think not.

Princesses and Superheroes

We are having a school spirit week in April and one of the days reads: "Princesses and Superheroes". Since I am trying to keep the Princess crap (yes, I call it crap) at bay as long as possible, this turns my stomach a little. So, I went on line and found Layla a DC comics t-shirt for Supergirl who's motto is "Girl Power". That's more my style! It's pink, so there's proof right there that I can compromise on 'girly' stuff!
