Layla is cutting her first tooth this week, we call him Spike. Why? Well he is kind of spiky. Why he? Well, he has a bad attitude, rather unfitting of a lady.
She also has another cold which has so conveniently decided to coincide with Spike's arrival. Poor Layla, she feels rotten. Her temp got up to 103.2 yesterday and since she just got over her double ear infection, the Dr. wanted to see her back in. Thankfully, it appears just to be a cold, albeit a bad one.
She is lethargic and there is a trail of green snot constantly running from her nose. Worst of all, she is cranky. Since she is such an easy going baby most of the time, this is especially tough for all of us. Side note: Who would've thought that my kid would be so easy going? Allie was here this weekend and witnessed (unprompted by me) the director of our school saying what an easygoing parent I was. My sister looked genuinely surprised!
At any rate, I also sort of envy Layla. Not the being sick part, but how she (and all babies) handles it. This is to say that she does what we all want to do when we are sick: lie on the floor with our arms and legs spread and whine in a very loud voice about how crummy we feel. We whine and cry until our mommy or daddy picks us up (and doesn't dare set us back down) and cuddles us. But not too much cuddling since we are very hot. And wipes our nose so we don't eat our green snot. But not too much nose wiping of course, because we hate that too.
It makes me love her even more.
