What's New?

Not a whole lot new going on lately. I have been working a little at my old job (at the school), a little at my new job, and a little on my own company work. The weather has been oppressive, unless you enjoy high heat and humidity. You southerners would probably love it up here, it's is like Louisiana but without the alligators.

I am enjoying my last few weeks of at-home time with Layla before I begin working at my new full time job in September. We are taking lots of long walks (and sometimes runs), playing in the park, and enjoying the local pool. Our membership to the Botanic Garden has worked out well and Layla enjoys the fountains, especially the one you are allowed to romp around in.


Layla is working on her vocabulary and has lengthy discussions that are incomprehensible. She has learned a few words we recognize. In addition to Mama and Dada we now have a full "Daddy", "Dah" (dog), "Dotter" (water), and "Oh-Oh" (uh-oh). Her favorite things include dogs of all kinds (we know many of the dog owners in our town) and has made many friends including Lucy, Chili, Bailey, Max, Jack, and Penny. I especially like Penny. She is a Shelty puppy (the color of a penny!) and reminds me of my Grandma. Layla also enjoys music, water and walking everywhere. She is getting stronger and faster every day, climbing on the playground last week for the first time.

Jason has taught her that the nightly bathtub routine includes picking up all your toys and putting them away, and how to pull the bathtub plug. After which she smiles and claps for herself and sometimes adds a "yaaaay".
