January Spring

As the temp creeps close to 60, it sure doesn't feel like January! It smells like spring. Chicago has a record lack of snowfall, 300 some days without more than an inch of snow. We have gotten a lot of rain the last couple of days so hopefully that helps out the drought, but I would've loved to see some snow instead!

Allie is coming to visit tomorrow. Last year when she came in January we went to the zoo because it was so warm. I think we'll do it again tomorrow. Our zoo membership expires on Sunday. We have loved it, so I bet we'll do it again for this year.

It's been a busy couple of weeks. Rachel was here to visit for Christmas, so we got to see her before heading off to Wisconsin for Christmas. Sadly, Victor's flight got cancelled and we missed him! We stayed busy traveling around to see family spread around the Green Bay area. We went to Christmas Eve mass and everyone was surprised to see Santa come in at the end! He prayed at the altar and left without saying a word. The kids were all thrilled!

Mom and Dad came to visit us for Christmas #2, bringing with them a mountain of gifts from the Minnesota family for the kids. They stayed until the 2nd, which meant Jason and I got a real date night out with friends for NYE. We ate, drank and danced, and had fun night out.

We visited the Wonderland Express at the Botanic Garden which was amazing. I highly recommend it to my Chicago friends. It's an elaborate train set up with iconic Chicago buildings and architecture all made of natural materials. It's fun for adults and kids!
