Kids' Stuff

Jayden is four months old today!  He is really starting to notice the world around him and interact more than ever.  He's a pretty easy going little "meatball", as Layla calls him.

The two kids adore each other, which is pretty amazing.  I am sure some of the shine will wear off when he starts taking her toys, but for now it's pretty great.  She gave him her lovie to snuggle with before she left for school this morning.  Even though I warned he that he would gnaw and drool on it all day long.  She said it was okay.

Jayden has had a cold and developed some wheezing last week.  He is currently using a nebulizer a few times a day for treatment.  He doesn't love it, but we are managing.  They have been staying pretty healthy, knock on wood.

Layla is doing well in school and enjoying her big sister duties.  She loves her "responsibility chart" we got her for Christmas and worked hard last week so she could earn a movie and popcorn, which we did yesterday afternoon.  It was a nice excuse to relax and snuggle with the kiddos, especially on such a rainy cold yucky day.  Her responsibilities include:

no whining
say please and thank you
clear the table
eat your dinner (we had to add that one......)
brush your teeth

and so on.  We change them each week so she tries some new things (help with laundry), does some easy things (get ready for bed), and works on some difficult things (no whining).  It's been an overwhelming success from my perspective.  She gets a magnet at the end of the day for each responsibility and gets very excited about her rewards.  This week: Lucky Charms.

Mom is a little late in posting it; she is enjoying learning how to write her letters. 

She loves to sing! The kids performed at church a couple of weeks ago for Lutheran Schools week.

Baby's first snow angel; he loved being outside in the snow! 

Jason took Layla to the Glenview Park District's "Princess Ball" last weekend.

She had a great time on her date with Dad and they found good company with some of her friends and their Dads.  She also learned the words to 'Call me, maybe'.
