Last night we were laying in bed, reminiscing, a little tearfully, about what the last nine years have meant for us. It was the last night we'll probably ever spend in our condo. Next week our renters will move in and we will be landlords.
This is our first home together and we met so many of life's milestones here: engagement, marriage, first baby and all her firsts, our second and some of his, Christmas trees and birthday parties and so many other memories.
We remodeled almost everything with our own blood, sweat and tears and made a beautiful home to live in.
As you may already know, this was not our plan. Like a lot of other people we know, we would have much rather not lost all that we have invested; it would have been nice to have sold at a profit or at least for what we have in, but that was not to be. So, we plan to rent for a few years and hope the housing recovery continues to gain momentum so we can sell the condo and walk away. It won't be with all our money, but that's the way life goes. Owning property is not a guaranteed investment, not unlike our stock portfolio.
We are so thrilled to finally move into our house. It's hard to believe all of this stuff we've been moving one truck load at a te ever fit in this condo! The house is getting full already.
Layla and I are having a little downtime now (the meatball is napping) while Jason and Allie get the truck and lunch.
The kids have a playdate this afternoon so we hope it will go quickly. The boxes are all moved, just furniture to go! Hope to post some more later...
