Thanksgiving come Early!

This past weekend we continued our now tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving a bit early.  It was Allie's last weekend off until January and seemed like a great opportunity to spend some time together.  Allie's boyfriend, Ryan, took a weekend off from hunting to join us, as did Uncle Paul and Cousin Katie  and of course, Mom and Dad came in from Arizona.  It was quite a day!

Layla and Papa are in charge of the Green Bean Casserole. 

Snow White keeps an eye on the sweet potatoes, it looks like they are ready for the oven.

You won't be surprised to learn that Layla insisted Snow White be in a photo of her own. 

 

Here is our perfect turkey from Harrison's, the Poultry Market in Glenview since 1893. 

Great-Grandma's table hasn't been used for Thanksgiving in 50 years, I think she would be proud.

 I am glad that I have a Dining Room and a table that can seat 10 for dinner!

Cousins! 

We had a really fun day, with lots of delicious food (Katie brought us 4 kinds of pie from a bakery in Lincoln Square), and wine too.   We brought everyone to our new house project in Northbrook, which is nearly done for a field trip and fresh air.  It was a wonderful day with family and we are so very thankful!

Sunday's storms brought devastation to some parts of Illinois, thankfully we got only a bad rain and hail and then, a beautiful rainbow.  Here's the view from our front yard.  Layla spotted it and good thing she did, it lasted less than 5 minutes.
