Layla's Birthday Party

I figure I am more than over due in sharing some pics from Layla's Birthday party here last month. We had a small gathering at our new house, with some food and family. It was pretty hot out and we were pleased to learn that the air conditioner in the Living Room actually works. We also had gotten a couple of small window units and put Dad to work installing one in the Kitchen. For the most part, we spent the afternoon outside, enjoying the weather and watching the kids play in the sprinklers and with Layla's new water table.

The weekend started off with an all day Friday construction project. Dad, Allie and I put together Layla's new play set. It was inherited from a colleague of mine whose kids are now too old to use it. He was kind enough to disassemble the play set and bring it to our house. It sat for a few weeks before we brought in the reserve troops for assembly.

You wouldn't think it would take three people all day to assemble, but it did (Mom worked her tail off in the yard and was probably pleased to be avoiding it). We had all the parts and pieces, and 5 photos of the assembled play set. Ready, set, GO!

Several trips to the hardware store were involved, but at the end of the day it was complete. Layla was so thrilled when she got home from school! She has named this "Layla's Park" and is already climbing the ladders and learning the monkey bars.
