Layla doesn't really play with her dolls and stuffed animals. But, you can find her tonight and every night snuggled with no less than 6 stuffed animals in her bed; her head on one her arms around a couple more. She insists that her monkey, George (the curious one) must sit on the table with us during breakfast each day.

There was a skunk, dead in the road, outside our house today. I can only hope that this is the same skunk that has been living under the floor of our shed.

If you've been following my life as a gardener you may have noticed scarce posts of actual harvests. This is, in part, because between the deer and the flooding there isn't much to harvest. After the last flood, the potatoes were all rotted and ruined. The backyard smelled awful like rotten food. We have managed to eek out a few cherry tomatoes a week, harvested 2 red potatoes, 2 squash and a zucchini the size of my calf. The zucchini have taken hold of nearly the entire garden, so it's a good thing we like them. Also my transplanted basil is doing well enough to warrant some homemade pesto in the coming weeks.
Plans to relocate the garden to higher ground are underway. Already I have moved 6 rhubarb plants that were near death. They are enjoying their new sunny spot on the western property line.
