My Birthday week started out with dinner at Quartino last Friday. We had a table outside on the sidewalk and got to enjoy the beautiful weather. Quartino has small plates, served family style, and wines by the carafe. It was lovely to spend time with a few close friends and family.

Yesterday was my 32nd Birthday and we celebrated with an afternoon in the city. We met up with Rachel and had a late lunch/early dinner/chowfest at the Taste of Chicago. It was a picture perfect day: 75˚ and only a few wispy clouds in the sky. We spent time at Buckingham fountain, watching street performers dance and do acrobatics, walking the rose garden and visiting Millenium Park. It was a wonderfully fun and relaxing day.

Layla was game for trying new things and the Rainbow Cone was her favorite (or was it the Mango Rice Pudding?). We also had catfish with spicy mustard, watermelon Italian ice, polish with kraut, bbq shrimp, jerk chicken, perogi, Beignet (can't match NOLA), jumbalaya, and gazpacho. We kept to the taste portions (and shared) so we could try a bunch of stuff.
