Jason's Birthday Outings

On Sunday, our brunch plans with friends were foiled due to a nasty virus that attacked our hostess. We were very sad, but decided we would still head into the city for the day, specifically to the Lincoln Park Zoo. It is a wonderful zoo, and free (really free if you can find street parking).


If you read often you will know Layla has been to the Zoo with her girlfriend Alice on a couple of occasions. This was the first trip she was VERY enthusiastic about the animals. Shrieking was commonplace, and most notable at the monkey and gorilla exhibits. This is generally my favorite as well.

It is primarily outdoors.

We were pleased to see the pond redevelopment project was complete, and included a wonderful new nature walk, complete with boardwalk around the pond.

After 11 years of telling Jason that he should not work on his Birthday, he finally relented and listened. Then he admitted that I was right (which is important to record, I think). We met up with cousin Jessi, Aunt Jannie, and Grandma Annie for lunch at the Cheesecake Factory in Milwaukee. Jessi now lives in Arizona and this was her first opportunity to meet Layla. We had a wonderful lunch and even enlisted the staff to sing and embarrass Jason!
