Bye Bye Carpet

Our first project in the new house was to remove the dusty old drapes and carpet. It was ugly, dingy, and very worn out. This house fell victim to the 70s (I think) when it was all the rage to carpet every inch of your home. Thankfully they skipped the bathrooms and walls. Needless to say, they was a wonderful rainbow of carpets in our new house. The electric blue shag in the front bedroom was my favorite, but the overwhelming portion of the living space was covered in a horrible dirty brown color that it turns out was olive green once upon a time. With miles of carpet come hundreds of carpet staples and enough carpet tack to line an O'Hare runway. It took the better part of two weekends for us to remove the carpet, tacks, staples, and get the floors cleaned.
