We had a wonderful and action-packed holiday weekend. We left home Saturday morning with the Pilot packed to the gills. Good thing we have this huge truck, Layla has a ton of stuff! Our first stop was Green Bay, about two and a half hours drive. Layla slept the whole way, including a lunch break. We were relieved that she liked the ride so much.
Saturday evening we headed to Denmark to see the Kraynik side of the family at Jack and Carol's 50th Wedding Anniversary reception. (The camera is kaput again, but I will post pics as soon as I can download them). Layla met much of her family, including her great-grandmother Helen. Following the reception we headed back to Trout Springs Winery (Steve and Annie's place) for Music on the Vines, an annual event they hold with a terrific brass band.
Layla fell asleep that night in Grandpa Steve's arms and slept a whopping six hours. We tried to bring him on the next leg of the journey to keep that magic spell on her! Sunday morning Steve and Annie hosted brunch at their house so we could visit with the DeBaker side of the family. Layla got to meet many cousins, aunts, uncles and her great-grandma MaryAnn and great-grandpa Cal. She is a luck girl to have so many grandparents!
After brunch we headed to Allie's house on the second leg of our journey. Layla was amazing through the five hour drive, mostly sleeping and stopping only once to eat. On Monday we had a wonderful BBQ at Allie's house with the Lindahl/Edberg family plus a few friends. It was terrific to get so much of the family together and we were glad to introduce Layla to everyone.
Monday afternoon we headed up north to Mom and Dad's where we will be enjoying some vacation time. This leg of the trip (only two and half hours) was the least smooth, but we made it safe and sound!
